About these terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to the iAbidan English–Myanmar dictionary app for iOS and Android (the “app”), provided by Sei Thu Htun (“I”, “me”, “my”). By downloading or using the app, these Terms automatically apply to you, so please read them carefully. If you don’t agree to them, please don’t use the app.

How the app handles your information is described separately in the Privacy Policy.

Using the app

I grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own learning and reference.

If you downloaded the app from the App Store, your use is also subject to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement. If you downloaded it from Google Play, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.

Intellectual property

You’re not allowed to copy or modify the app, any part of the app, or my trademarks in any way. You’re not allowed to attempt to extract the source code of the app or its dictionary database, and you also shouldn’t try to translate the app into other languages or make derivative versions.

The app itself — including its dictionary entries, definitions, translations and example sentences — and all the trademarks, copyright, database rights and other intellectual property rights related to it, still belong to Sei Thu Htun.

Acceptable use

When using the app, please don’t:

  • copy, scrape or bulk-download the dictionary content, or use automated tools to query the app;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with the app, or try to get around its advertising, subscription or security features;
  • use the app for anything unlawful, or in a way that could harm the app, other people or me;
  • sell, rent or redistribute the app or its content.

Dictionary content

iAbidan is a reference tool for learning. I work hard to keep its definitions, translations, pronunciations and examples accurate, but no dictionary is perfect: entries may contain mistakes or be incomplete, and meanings change over time.

Please don’t rely on the app alone for legal, medical, financial, immigration or other professional translation where a mistake could cause harm — check with a qualified professional instead. If you find a mistake or a missing word, please tell me at [email protected].

Apple Intelligence features

On supported devices, features such as Meaning in Context, Fix My Text and Word practice use Apple Intelligence. They run entirely on your device; the app does not send the text you enter to me or to any server. These features need iOS 26 or later, a device that supports Apple Intelligence and Apple Intelligence turned on, and they work in English only.

Text produced by a language model can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable, so please review corrections and quiz answers before relying on them. Availability depends on your device, operating system, language and region, and Apple may change or withdraw the underlying model at any time.

Premium subscription

iAbidan is free to use. Premium is an optional paid upgrade that removes advertising from the app; every entry, pronunciation and feature stays available without it. Where Premium is offered as a subscription:

  • The price and billing period are shown in the app before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
  • The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel the subscription at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Premium stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
  • Premium belongs to the store account that bought it. Use Restore Purchase in the app to turn it on for another device signed in to the same account.
  • Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, and refunds are handled by them under their own policies. I can’t issue refunds directly.
  • If the price changes, you’ll be told in advance as the store requires, and you can cancel before the new price applies.

Advertising

The free version of the app shows advertisements served by Google AdMob, which help pay for the dictionary’s ongoing development. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the app asks for your consent before showing personalised ads, and you can change your choice at any time in the app’s settings. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and that advertiser.

Backups and your data

Backup & Restore saves your recents, favourites and settings to your own iCloud Drive or Google Drive. Those backups are stored by Apple or Google under their terms, I don’t receive a copy of them, and you are responsible for keeping access to that account.

I’m not responsible for data lost because of a device problem, a deleted backup or a cloud account you can no longer access, so please back up regularly.

Third-party services

The app uses third-party services that declare their own Terms and Conditions. Links to the terms of the third-party service providers used by the app:

The app may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided for your convenience only and do not imply endorsement or approval of the linked websites or their content. Sei Thu Htun is not responsible for the content of any linked website.

No warranty

iAbidan is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sei Thu Htun makes no warranties or representations of any kind, express or implied, as to the operation of the app or the information, content or materials included in it. You expressly agree that your use of the app is at your sole risk.

Limitation of liability

In no event shall Sei Thu Htun be liable for any kind of damages, including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, punitive and consequential damages, arising from or in connection with your use of the app or any content or materials provided in it. This limitation of liability applies even if Sei Thu Htun has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some countries don’t allow certain warranties or liabilities to be excluded, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Sei Thu Htun harmless from and against any and all claims, damages, costs and expenses, including attorneys’ fees, arising from or in connection with your use of the app or any content or materials provided in it.

Updates and termination

The app is currently available on Android and iOS. The requirements for both systems — and for any other systems I decide to make the app available on — may change, and you’ll need to download updates if you want to keep using the app. I don’t promise that I will always update the app so that it is relevant to you or works with the version of Android or iOS installed on your device. However, you agree to always accept updates to the app when they are offered to you.

I may also stop providing the app, and may end your use of it at any time without giving notice. Unless I tell you otherwise, when your use ends, (a) the rights and licences granted to you in these Terms will end, and (b) you must stop using the app and, if needed, delete it from your device.

Your rights and severability

Nothing in these Terms limits the rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the country where you live, where those rights cannot be excluded by agreement.

If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that part will be limited or removed only as far as necessary, and the rest of these Terms will stay in full effect. If I don’t enforce a part of these Terms straight away, that doesn’t mean I have given up the right to enforce it later.

Changes to these Terms

I may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Your continued use of the app after any change means you accept the updated Terms.

Translations

These Terms are available in English and Burmese. If the two versions differ, the English version applies.
